It goes without saying that the wildlife is wonderful and there are dozens of game reserves to visit. One can even choose a malaria-free reserve, which is great if you are traveling with children. The scenery is remarkable. Aside from the panoramic views and seaside cliffs of Cape Town, you’ll find breathtaking photo opportunities in the Mpumalanga region’s Panorama Route and along the Garden Route in the Eastern Cape.

Some of the most superb food we’ve enjoyed has been in South Africa. From seafood in gourmet restaurants to fresh markets and amazing wines, South Africa is a great culinary destination!

The cultural experiences are varied too. South Africa is known as the “Rainbow Nation” for good reason — it is one of the most multicultural places in the world! You can visit small villages, dine at ethnic restaurants or cook with a local and learn about their traditional cuisine. In the townships, you will meet the locals, or on a visit to Robben Island learn about the life of Nelson Mandela. Art galleries with traditional art abound, and if it is music that interests you, there are ample opportunities to experience local music.
